Divide your youth group into teams and supply them each with lots of rubbish - toilet rolls, bubble wrap, string etc. Give each team a hard-boiled egg and challenge them to see who can make the best padding/parachute in order to successfully drop the egg from a great height (Stairwell? First floor window? Balcony?) without causing it to crack. The least cracked wins.
Buy enough eggs for each of your group to have one. Provide pins and bowls and ask them to 'blow' their eggs by pricking each end and blowing the contents out. There is definitely a technique to this! The bigger the hole, the quicker it empties. After washing hands and eggs, provide paint, felt pens and craft stuff - glitter, glue, sequins, feathers etc in order for them to personalise their eggs. You could do this with a theme - e.g. make the characters of a Bible story you have just read. (Tip - have at least one spare egg for each person in case of breakages or accidents)
Do a simple egg and spoon race, but add a twist by tying their legs in pairs and combining it with a three-legged race! So cruel...
If you have a group of teenagers who are up for anything, present them with an egg box (one egg for each member) that is full of boiled eggs - except for one uncooked one. One at a time, each young person stands on a chair, chooses a victim to stand beneath them, and drops his/her egg on the victim's head. Most will come away unscathed - except one! Have water and a towel at the ready.
