Money

Ask your group to privately work out how much pocket money they receive in a year. Are they surprised by the amount? Was it more or less than they expected? Now ask them to consider a sum of that total they could give away to a good cause, charity, the church, or to sponsor a child. Hand out information about pledging a cash gift to your church, sponsoring a child, or giving to various charities.

Read 2 Corinthians 9:6-8 together. Discuss Paul's suggestions and how this relates to what they have already thought about. Challenge them to return the following week with a decision about how they wish to give their money away.

Search the web for a collection of facts and figures about the world's spending. Give the information out on sheets and ask each person to underline the fact that shocks them most. In order to inform others members of your church about these facts, paint a huge image of planet earth, then on a roll of acetate (good art shops should have this) draw a huge coin, the same size as the planet. Write the facts and figures on the acetate, and then hang it over the planet on the wall for everyone to see.
