Encourage your young people to write a prayer diary for a whole month (or a week if you think they will struggle). They can literally write a whole prayer, or just a list of thanks, praise and wants. Ask them to look back each week and see how God has answered their prayers. Meet at the end of the month and share experiences. How have they been encouraged? Do they think they have formed a new 'good habit' that will help their daily walk with God?
Read the poem 'Footsteps' to your group. Discuss the meaning. Is this how they see Jesus' role in their lives? Ask them to think of times when Jesus probably carried them through difficult times. Why is it that we feel Jesus leaves us when we are at our lowest?
Read the following together: John 14:16, Hebrews 13: 5 (with reference to Deuteronomy 31:6), and Matthew 28:18-20. Discuss how Jesus promises to be with us, and the role of the Holy Spirit in this.
